Deceased Classmates

Burton Annas: By Brad Annas, May 22, 2016 -  Earlier today I have lost my oldest brother Burton to cancer. It is so hard to collect my thoughts an express how I feel. He means so much to me an there isn't just one word that can describe how much he means to me and still does and always will forever and ever. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for me at anytime and was always there for me. The love we have is unconditional. In this grieving times I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have the best most unconditional loving parents and loving brother who may be thousands of miles away but he is here for me an are parents at a moments notice. We all know now that Burton is resting comfortably and in no more pain and suffering. Rest in piece Burton we will love you forever and ever. Your loving Mom, Dad, brothers Bill, Brad!!!! 01-11-1968 to 05-21-2016! [Provided by Heather Ross.]

John Alden Papke, 47, passed away at his home on October 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Norway, Maine on August 14, 1967 to Robert and Ann (Fuller) Papke. He was a graduate of Calais High School and served his country in the United States Army. John spent his younger years working at the OSB and paper mills in Baileyville and long haul truck driving. He then found his calling with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, where he was determined, meticulous and proud to have been a part of. John was a fitness buff who loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bob and David Papke; sister, Robin Tardiff and his infant son, Jacob Arnold Papke. John will be sadly missed by his sisters Tamey Holmes and her husband, Kerry of Alexander, Sally Webb of San Antonio, TX, Debbie Bryant and her husband, Rodney of Gorham and Chantell Barker of Savanah, GA; the most special person in his life, his daughter, Alexandra Papke and many friends including Dennis and Jean Neddeau, Gary Wright and Bobby Hood. Johnís family would like to thank and acknowledge the care and compassion shown to him by his fellow Customs & Border Patrol officers during the past 11 months, we are forever indebted. Kelly Preston - BANGOR and CALAIS - Kelly Ann Preston, 41, died Jan. 31, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 10, 1968, in Rockland, the daughter of John R. and the late Ora S. Preston. She earned her master's degree and licensed clinical professional counselor from the University of Maine, Orono, after her graduation from Calais High School. Kelly worked as a clinician and therapist at both Acadia Hospital and Behavioral Health Center, where she brought her love of life and radiance to the lives of those around her. She was a free-spirited mother, sister and daughter who will always be remembered as a wise and playful soul by all who knew her. Kelly's warmth of love and deep spirituality, combined with her passion for Eastern philosophy, gave her a unique glow and strength that made her a fierce friend and an infinitely loving mother. To Kelly, her kids were her life and the bravery she exhibited when raising three kids alone has inspired her children to face all life's challenges the same way. In addition to her children, Jessica, Brooke and Will of Bangor, she is survived by her father, John Preston of Roques Bluff; a sister, Kristy Elsemore and husband, Terry, of York, and their two children, Kelsey and Connor; along with many dear friends. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Those who wish to remember Kelly in a special way may make gifts, in lieu of flowers, to Kelly's Kids Education Fund to benefit her children, at any Key Bank location. Condolences to the family may be expressed [Published in Bangor Daily News on February 2, 2010. Provided by John Adams.]
