Mary Brooks Crossman, Robbinston, ME.  I have been married to Elton Crossman for 19 years now. I have 5 children Jonathan who is in the marines, he has been over to Afghanistan, now is home in the states, Jessica is working at the Calais hospital in the food service department, Elton has just graduated from Calais high school "02", Rosena is a freshman at Calais high she barrel races and was 2001 state championship in Jr. Poles and barrels, David is in the 7th grade and just made the team for Babe Ruth in Calais. Bruce Karl Cronkite, Jacksonville, NC. While I didnt graduate, I just wanted to share that I am a Christian now, living in southeastern North Carolina, happily married since 1985 to Linda, a sweetheart of a southern-belle! I work in the Ready Mix Concrete Industry as an Area Manager. I hope this finds all well, and hope to see some of my old friends and running buddies one day soon! Be good. I have been in the US Air Force for 19 years and we have been married 19 years as well. We plan to move back to the Calais area in July, 2000 when I retire from the service. We have four children, Marc 23, Jennifer 17, Amy 11, Megan, 9. Marc is married and has a daughter and is also in the Air Force.

Barbara Stacey Dow, Brooklin, ME.  Hello to everyone! I'm still living on the beautiful coast of Maine, married a boatbuilder in '87, and have two teens.  Shawney is 19 and a freshman in college, Jesse is almost 15 and a freshman in high school.  Have done some teaching, am now into Humane Education and a few other things.  My "babies" include a mix breed therapy dog,  a spoiled rotten pekinese, and two rabbits.  I plan on being at the reunion in August, and look forward to seeing everyone. bardobrook24@downeast.net 032008 

Vicky Townsend-Newman, Tower Hill, NB.  I was married to Cyril Hawthorne for 7 years have two children Nicole 26, Dale 25; Cyril passed away in 1988. I married Fred Newman on March 3,1990 been together for 18 yrs. We have a son Freddy Jr 17yrs old. I have two step-daughters Carolann McGouldrick and Jill King I have three grandchildren Joel McGouldrick 17, Samantha Dawn McGouldrick 4. They live in Baring Maine, Micah Guritz 14 months old is Nicole son He lives in Michigan. I will be a gramee again in November 2008, Nicole is due with her second child. In Sept. Fred and I hope to go to Michigan so we can be there for the birth of the baby.

Joanne M. Greenlaw Doten, 56, of Ludlow, MA passed peacefully after an 18 year battle with ALS, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born in Calais, ME on Oct. 8, 1960, she was a graduate of Calais Memorial H. S.. Joanne had lived in the Western MA area since 1987. She was an avid sports fan and passionately followed the Patriots, Red Sox, PGA golf and NASCAR rooting on her favorite driver, Jeff Burton. Joanne worked as an Operations Manager for Froggy’s Saloon in Westfield and the Open Door Café in Ludlow. She always made sure that her friends and her customers always had a place to go to, even during the holidays. She will be remembered for her great spirit, sense of humor, snappy comebacks and her gigantic heart. She was truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her and of her ability to never give up. Joanne was also a very active supporter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the ALS Foundation. The daughter of the late Hilda (Cousins) Greenlaw and sister of the late Susan Greenlaw, Joanne is survived by her father, Allen Greenlaw, Sr. of Alexander, ME, her daughter, Stephanie Blanchard and her husband Fred of Springfield, two grandchildren, Sierra and Jackson, her sister, Becky Willson of W. Springfield, her two brothers, Butch Greenlaw and his wife Dedi of Hermon, ME and David Greenlaw and his wife MaryJo of Bradenton, FL. as well as several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her best friend, Anthony Campagnari of Daytona Beach, FL. Joanne’s family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall West and Baystate Medical Center, Daly 6, Palliative Care Unit. There will be a celebration of life for Joanne in the near future and her burial will take place in the family plot in Calais, ME at a later date. Wayne Jeffrey Leavitt, 54, passed away in Boston, MA on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 following a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Wayne was born in Calais on September 24, 1959. He graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1978, and furthered his education at Washington County Vocational Technical Institute studying automotive and millwright apprentice. Wayne married his true love Renee Warren on August 12, 1979. He worked at Donovan’s Store and Calais Tire until beginning his career with Georgia Pacific, retiring in 2013. Wayne loved to stay active in his community where he served on the Robbinston Vol. Fire Dept., was former President of the Fire Department Association, former selectman, and a former board member of the Robbinston 4 Wheeler Club. He also was a member of the Quarter Century Club with Georgia Pacific and Local #27 United Steel Workers Union. Wayne enjoyed hunting, puttering, and being around his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his his loving wife of 34 years Renee (Warren) Leavitt; two children, Lisa Marie Leavitt of Perry, and Heather Dawn Soucy and husband Kurt of St. Agatha; five grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Hailey, Andrew, and Ashley Calder, and Evan and Elise Soucy; beloved father-in-law and mother-in-law Darrell and Mavis Warren of Calais; special uncle and aunt Ed and Eileen Leavitt of Calais; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Pete and Cheryl Foster of Calais, and two special brothers Bill Warren of Calais, and Gerard Warren of Perry, GA; and two sisters Darylann Warren of Calais, and Amy Avery of Pembroke; as well as his mother and three brothers. Wayne was predeceased by his father Donald Leavitt Sr; and two brothers, Tim Leavitt and Tim Avery. Visiting hours will be held 11 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a celebration of Wayne’s life will begin at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Brewer Cemetery, Robbinston. Robbie Alan McIninch. CALAIS - Robbie Alan McIninch, 44, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 7, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 15, 1960, at St. Stephen, N.B., the son of Robert and Yvonne McIninch. He is survived by his parents, brother, Danny McIninch; sister, Cindy and her husband, Alan Cavanagh; grandparents, Alan and Annie Whirty of Old Ridge, N.B.; many nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Robbie lost his sight in 1977, the result of a tragic accident. He amazed everyone that he met on his ability to handle his disability. In spite of his handicap, he enjoyed life to its fullest. He enjoyed traveling to the state and national Federation of the Blind conventions. He enjoyed his talking computer, walking and visiting with many special friends. He also attended Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, Mass. in 1978; and Bangor Community College to study computer programming in 1983. He enjoyed Sunday visits with his grandparents, especially when Gramp read to him and his Grams cooking. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Second Baptist Church in Calais. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated. 

Dawn Stone Moraisey. ALEXANDER - Dawn Marie Moraisey, 50, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, at her home, with her husband by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dawn was born Dec. 4, 1959, in St. Albans City, Vt., the daughter of Lewis and Janice (Call) Stone. She graduated from Calais High School and attended Husson College, Bangor, and Washington County Community College, where she studied business. On June 27, 1987, she married Donald Moraisey in Calais. Dawn was employed at various companies until beginning her career with the Calais School Department, where she worked as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk for more than 25 years. She enjoyed having barbecues with her family and friends, playing cards and attending bluegrass festivals. She was an avid reader. Dawn was predeceased by her mother, Janice Stone; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Rosena Stone; maternal grandparents, Julian and Fern Call; and a brother-in-law, Christopher Eagan. Surviving are her loving husband, Donald Moraisey; her father, Lewis Stone of Calais; stepson, Dennis Moraisey of Addison; three sisters, Carol Stone Eagan, Crystal McPhee and Tina Perkins, all of Calais; her faithful canine companion, Sadie; many nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Dawn's life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Church of the Open Bible, 1222 Airline Road, Alexander. Burial will take place at Alexander Cemetery. Kevin John Thomayer, of 260 Main St., Calais, died of cancer on Tuesday, May 22, 1979, at a local hospital. The son of Carol and the late Charles Thomayer, he was 19 years old. Kevin graduated with honors in 1978 from the Calais Memorial High School. An interment service will be held at the Calais Cemetery on Saturday, June 2 at 11 a.m. The Kevin J. Thomayer Book Fund  has been established at the Calais Free Library. Donations will be used to purchase art books for the Library. [Bangor Daily News 5/29/79]
