Darlene AnnasCampbell. Darleen G. Campbell, 57, died Jan. 29, 1998, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1940, at Calais, the daughter of Lloyd I. and Charlotte E. (Maloney) Annas. Darlene was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Calais and a member of the Catholic Women's Sodality. She will be fondly remembered by her fellow classmates of Calais High School, Class of 1959. Survivors include her mother of Calais, and Joseph R. Campbell Sr., the father of her two children, also of Calais; one son, Joseph R. Campbell Jr. and his wife, Diana M. Campbell of California; one daughter, Lisa J. Campbell of Connecticut; one brother, Burton J. Annas Sr. and his wife, Mary Helen of Calais; three grandchildren, Eric and Shane Cresser, both of Maryland, and Samantha Campbell of California; several nephews, nieces, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Calais by the Rev. Brian Blanchette. Burial will be in Red Beach Cemetery. Friends called at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais, where prayers were recited at 7:30 p.m. At the request of the family, donations in her memory to the charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated. Barbara Bailey (Caspersen)  Moved away before graduating with class of 59 in Calais but have always kept in touch with classmates.  My home is in Hamilton, Ontario where I have 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  I have been to the last two class reunions and enjoyed very much seeing everyone.  I try to get home at least once a year to visit my friends and home town and hope to continue.  Would love to hear from classmates. bcaspersen1@cogeco.ca

Marilyn Barnard Simons. The death of Marilyn (Barnard) Simons, 62, of Wethersfield, Conn., widow of John H. Simons, occurred Friday, December 19,2003. She was born April 15, 1941, in Calais, Me. a daughter of Lawrence and Gertrude (White) Barnard. Marilyn was an employee of the Union Express Mart in Hartford, Conn. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law. Julia (Simons) and Edward Castro of Tolland, Conn., Laura Ann and Chris Coupe of Colchester, Conn., and Joanna Lynn and David Plage of Glastonbury, Conn.; two brothers, Maurice Barnard Gary Bar of Little Ridge, N.B.; three sisters, Betty Arseneau of St. Stephen. N.B., Sandra l.ibbv of Campobello lsland, N.B., and Sharon Doten of Amesbury Mass. She is also survived by six granchildren who were the light of her life, Daniel and Dillon Castro, Brianna and Ryan Coupe and Jonathan and James Plage. Funeral services were held on Dec. 23, 2003 at Rose Hill funeral Home, Rocky Hill. Conn. Burial followed in Rose Hill Memorial Park. [provided by Teresa Kelly MacLean]

David Boynton.  BARNEGAT, NEW JERSEY 08005 CAROLE AND I ARE RETIRED AND LIVING ON THE SHORE ABOUT 25 MILES FROM ATLANTIC CITY ---- AND THAT SOMETIMES IS A BIT DANGEROUS. Norman Ernest Brown, 64, died peacefully surrounded by family, Dec. 12, 2005. He died after a brief, yet brave battle with leukemia. He was born June 18, 1941, in St. Steven, New Brunswick. He was the only child of the late Sheldon Leighton Brown and Ruth Arlene (Gray) Brown. Norman graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1959. He worked as a master mechanic for Georgia Pacific and Domtar for 31 years. He was an avid antique car and street rod enthusiast. At anytime he could be found "down-back" working on an old car in his garage. He was a M.O.A.L. member for countless years, where he met many of his close friends. He was also a licensed pilot. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna (McArthur) Brown; his oldest son, Dean his wife, Michelle and their two sons, Shane and Evan of Alexander; his only daughter, Wendy her husband, Daniel and their two children, Katelyn and Wyatt of Lamoine; his youngest son, Scott and his daughter, of Alexander, Stephanie; his mother-in-law, Barbara McArthur and her late husband, Elbridge, of Alexander; sister-in-law, Jackie Bartlett and her husband, Earl, of Baring; brother-in-law, Phillip McArthur of Alexander; sister-in-law, Deborah Doten of Meddybemps; brother-in-law, Bruce Mills and his wife, Judy, of Louisiana; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He will especially be missed by the brother he never had, Darryl Brown and his wife, Norma, of Gardner, along with many other great friends. He will also be greatly missed by his pets, Whimpy, Sissy and Tigger. At Norman's request there will be a graveside service in the spring of 2006. Thomas B. Getchell, Sr. should have been 1959 but I moved away to Southington Ct. and now live in Wytheville Virginia,  I get back to Calais once in a while not much of the old gang left. Still a great little town that now looks better then it did when I was a kid.emack@outdrs.net

I live in Calais and work at the Calais Regional Hospital in the Health Information Department as a Coder.  My husband, Eddie MacLean, died in June 2000.  I had previously been married to Daryl McClure and we had one daughter and two grandchildren.  My grandson is in his third year of college at the University of Maine at Machias.  My granddaughter is in her Senior year at Woodland High School.  She is a cheerleader and plays the flute in the band.   I have an English Springer Spaniel named "Patches".   E-mail tkm@midmaine.com

Marilyn "Lyn" McCullough Mann, Yarmouth, ME. After 33 years of marriage, my husband passed away in May of 2002 -- Multiple strokes over a long period. JOSEPH J. McGOVERN. CALAIS and MACHIAS Joseph McGovern, beloved husband of Cynthia A. (Murphy) McGovern, passed away peace-fully on July 6, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Calais, Jan. 9, 1941, the son of Joseph and Edna (Pike) McGovern. Joe was graduated from Calais High School, after which he went to work for Georgia Pacific and Domtar for 39 years until the time of his sickness. He was an avid banjo player and in later years took up the guitar. Joe also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by two sons, John J. McGovern and his wife, Joanne of Baileyville, and Michael G. McGovern of Bangor; a stepdaughter, Alexandra Lachapelle of Machias; his brother, Eugene and his wife, Ila McGovern of Baring; two granddaughters, Chelsey and Marissa McGovern of Baileyville; two nephews, Dana McGovern of Florida and Steven McGovern of Bangor; a great-nephew, Darren McGovern. Joe was predeceased by a sister, Shirley; and a nephew, Darren McGovern. Joe will be deeply missed by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Shirley Murphy; brothers-in-law, John Murphy, Denise and Damien; Michael Murphy and wife, Susan, all of Baileyville; a half brother-in-law, Tom Dalfonso of Portland; nieces, Erica Pike of Baileyville, Melissa Pike of Princeton, Jessica and Katie Murphy of Baileyville; and his many, many friends. A memorial service will be held in his honor 1 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Peoples United Methodist Church in Baileyville. After the service, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the home of Michael and Susan Murphy on the Houlton Road in Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society or Down East Hospice in his memory.  [Bangor Daily News 7/9/03 provided by Milton Thornton]

John Pomeroy died October 17, 1976 in El Paso, Texas.  He was retired from the U. S. Border Patrol and a veteran of service in the USAF. He married Sandra Warren Class of 1960. Note from their son, Dan Pomeroy: Attended Calais High in 1979/1980, but graduated from Shead Mem. High. Dad was John Pomeroy. Mom is Sandra (Warren) Pomeroy. I spent six years in Marine Corps and now work for utility resource group in Ft.Worth, Tx. Am married with four children: Jessica 15, William 14, Rebekah 7, Benjamin 6. Two time state and one time national Tae Kwon Do champion. Would love to hear from classmates, but would also love to hear from Mom and Dad's classmates. danpomeroy@sm-p.com
